What it is

• INCI Name: Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter

• Form: Pale yellow to light brown solid fat, brittle at room temperature, melts near body temperature.

• Source: Extracted from roasted cocoa beans, refined or deodorized for cosmetic use (removes strong chocolate scent if desired).

Functions in Cosmetics

1. Emollient & Moisturizer – Softens, smooths, and hydrates skin by creating a protective layer.

2. Skin Barrier Support – Rich in saturated fats (oleic, stearic, palmitic acids) that reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

• Melting Point: 30–35°C (melts at body temperature for easy spreadability).

• Stability: Highly stable due to antioxidants; long shelf life (2–5 years).
